Founded by brothers Phillip and Paul Collins, Alder & Stone was launched to create distinctive kitchens with a personal touch, for a range of budgets and styles.
As a time-served joiner with 20 years’ experience and a successful interior & kitchen installation business, Phil was encountering an increasing number of people who were frustrated with the process of designing and buying a kitchen.
Kitchen projects are really exciting, but can be overwhelming. Many people find it really difficult to convert a vision to reality, especially with so many options and design aspects to consider.
You make grand plans, getting inspiration from stunning kitchens on Pinterest and Houzz, only to realise that the budget doesn’t quite stretch, or you can’t agree on style, or you don’t have enough space for that hand-painted timber shaker you’ve set your heart on. Or, you just don’t know where to start!
Phil spoke to Paul about the problem. A technology consultant by profession with a passion for design, Paul was looking for a new challenge a bit closer to home than his London media clients.
Together they spotted an opportunity to improve the kitchen design and installation process, and to help people create kitchens which are shaped around them.
And so, Alder + Stone was born.

At Alder & Stone we believe investing time into the design phase is fundamental to a great kitchen. It’s important to go through a careful design process which considers style, function and, most importantly, you.
Our ethos is to work really closely with our clients and consider their new kitchen idea as if it was our own. We don’t charge for design time, which means our design process can be very thorough. As a client, you’ll have chance to explore a number of options and really nail the finer details without feeling like you’re under pressure to make quick decisions.

We don’t have a showroom – we don’t feel there’s a need. We’re designing for your home, and so we come to you. Every engagement starts with a free, no obligation design consultation – we’re going to need to be at your place for that!
Once we’ve created the initial draft design – including free plans, 3D visualisation and mood boards, we’ll bring you samples materials, starting with doors.
When the time’s right, we’ll bring you samples of handles, work surfaces and other furniture.
And because we don’t carry the overhead costs of an expensive showroom, we can make your kitchen much more affordable.
